After 50 plus years of stone procurement, Hines understands the critical importance of engaging a knowledgeable stone consultant to guide the architect during the design phase, assist during the stone-procurement phase and properly inspect, select and blend the material during the fabrication and quality-control phase.
ISCS SA Stone Consultants, led by Raoul Luciani, has become one of our most-trusted partners in each of these endeavors.
Raoul’s critical eye, particularly during the fabrication and quality-control phase, has earned him the trust of our design professionals.  He consistently guides the stone material selection toward the desired aesthetic and functional intent.  Additionally, Raoul’s experience, practical nature and penchant for good judgment have earned him the respect and trust of the stone material fabricators.
In our view, ISCS SA Stone Consultants is one of the premier stone consultant firms in the industry.

how we work

phase 1

PHASE I_Snapseed.jpg

During the initial stone selection, ISCS works closely with the Architect/Owner providing comments and recommendations about stone types to meet the desired aesthetic, functional and performance criteria.

ISCS attends to all material presentations with Architect/Owner. ISCS reviews and evaluate Architect’s specified materials and supplier’s voluntary alternates for aesthetic intent.

ISCS provide all the necessary assistance to identify acceptable and unacceptable visual characteristics within slabs of presented materials.

ISCS provide all the necessary intelligence to confirm proposed materials are available in quantities sufficient to complete the project supply within the schedule.

phase 2

PHASE II_Snapseed.jpg

ISCS review and constantly monitor the stone selection from quarry and fabrication plants during fabrication to ensure compliance with the approved range and architectural specifications.

ISCS conducts regular meetings with the stone fabricator/quarry to facilitate proper coordination with the Architect and Contractor during the fabrication of the project.

phase 3

PHASE III_Snapseed.jpg

ISCS directs dry-lay and blending during fabrication to ensure that the stone falls within the color, texture, grain direction and variation as represented by the approval range samples maintained at the Supplier’s facility.

Blending of stone is critical to the success of any project. Failure to blend or ineffective blending efforts will produce walls that fall within the range samples but are disastrous aesthetically.

It is imperative that a stone consultant is able to communicate well without a language barrier and precisely understand the design intent.

It is also imperative that the stone consultant have a keen and well trained eye for blending of stone in addition to understanding the construction drawingsso as to recongnize the proximity of various elevations.

ISCS bring all of these skills and more.
